Nissan X-Trail: Features & Design

Nissan had the X-Trail on display back in 2022. In contrast to that model, the fourth-generation SUV has been modified and now seats seven people in three rows. Little has changed on the outside, as the four-wheeler still has a muscular bonnet and split LED headlamp arrangement. With its 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, the new model has a commanding SUV stance. Nissan has restricted the exterior colour options for this CBU to Diamond Black, Champagne Silver, and Pearl White.

A big 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a wireless charger, drive modes, relining and sliding rear seats, cruise control, and a 360-degree camera are just a few of the important features available.

Seven airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill start assist, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and an automatic parking brake are among the safety features of the 2017 X-Trail. Nissan has decided to forego ADAS features completely on the SUV.

Not utilizing a hybrid powertrain

Nissan has revealed that a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with 163 horsepower and 300 Nm would power the next X-Trail. This engine is equipped with a 12V mild hybrid system and Nissan\'s exclusive VCT technology. The only automatic transmission available for the new SUV that powers the front wheels is the CVT.

The X-Trail is offered in powerful hybrid and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations abroad. Nissan, however, has decided to eliminate these alternatives for India, which might be expensive in a market where 4X4 diesel SUVs predominate.

Price

The Nissan X-Trail media campaign is still in progress, with the SUV set to debut on August 1, 2024. The new model will only be available in the nation as a CBU, and it will cost more than other models. The SUV is anticipated to start at Rs 47 lakh and go up to Rs 52 lakh (on-road in Mumbai). The 2019 Nissan X-Trail will face off against the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and Skoda Kodiaq at this pricing point.

When comparing previous models to the new X-Trail, all of them have higher performance and equipment. In what way, then, will the SUV rival its competitors? Time will tell!
