Key Highlights from the July 2025 Car Sales

Maruti Suzuki cemented its dominance, with 10 out of the top 25 models emanating from the company, including the segment leader-Dzire, which grew 79% YoY. The SUV segment is now on the robust side, besides Hyundais, Mahindras, Tatas, Kias, and Toyotas. Mahindra Thar + ROXX, at 125% YoY, recorded the highest growth, reflecting the increased demand for rugged off-road SUVs. On the other hand, Tata Punch faced the largest decline at -33%, indicating changing preferences in the micro-SUV segment.

Conclusion: Shifting Preferences & Segment Dynamics

The July 2025 sales chart bears testament to a newer emphasis on SUVs and premium hatchbacks. While Maruti Suzuki was still the leader, Mahindra and Toyota seemed to be gradually gaining strength within SUV and MUV segments. With Thar + ROXX and Hyryder finding greater acceptance, Indian buyers are evidently looking for performance, space, and versatility.

OEMs can thus start gearing their production and marketing strategies accordingly as these trends steer festive season sales.
